This engine was given to me about 30 years ago. It was mostly complete and fresh water. At that time I cleaned it up and found a timer and carb. Then made the skids and painted it. The connecting rod had been welded so I never tried to run it. It has lived in a corner of my living room ever since. About 4 years ago I found another connecting rod. Yesterday I took it down to my shop and replaced the connecting rod and fitted new rings. I didn't really try to run it because it is going back to its spot in the living room. However I did squirt some gas in the cylinder and bounced it. I fired a few times. It has so much compression now it is hard to bounce with its tiny 10 inch flywheel. I guess I need to polish the flywheel rim and tag again. |

Post a picture of it in the living room. I've got a big four Evinrude 50hp NOS in our living room. And a Sandwich cub hit and miss engine in our dining room at our farm. Lou Florida Keys |

Looks nice. I'd like to have a small nice single in my living room someday like that maybe on a shelf with a short prop shaft and one of the spare bronze props all shined up. Did you have to source the piston rings? What is that drip oiler for? |

Chris the rings came from my stock that I have acquired over the years. The oiler was for piston lube in the days before "pre-mixed fuel". Now it is just a decoration. Gonna be a pretty hefty shelf... it weighs about 50 pounds. Also I guessed on the flywheel dia in the previous post. It is not 10 inches it is only 9 inches. |

Interesting about the drip oiler vs premixed fuel I never would have guessed that could work. So that lubes the piston/bore, the grease cups push grease to the main bearings, which of those lubes the connecting rod ends I wonder? |

Chris, The oil kind of went into the crankcase too. And that kind of lubed the rod etc. Note the "kind of" mentioned twice, that is why "pre mix" was an instant success once it was discovered that you could do that. Lou your welcome |
