Doing some shed clean-up and unearthed this Koban IM2125. Would appreciate thoughts on what it might be worth. Crankshaft turns by hand, good compression, manifolds look OK. Water pump and timing lever are complete and movable. Carburetor or mixing valve is present plus two grease cups and drip oiler. Cylinder covers (heads) are aluminum. Don't see any obvious prior repairs, cracks or external damage. Thoughts?Engine photo

I hate to be a bit of a troll but I'm a bit chagrined that your first concern is "what it might be worth." Thus site appreciates and considers the history and complexity and mechanical uniqueness of these often rare old marine engine. If your primary interest is "what it might be worth"; post it on e-bay.

Bruce - didn't mean to break any rules. I read some other posts and saw the question asked so I thought it would be ok. I'll request that the post be deleted - looks like I need to contact the administrator for help.

Personally I think it's great jeff coming here. When is saw it all I could think was "thank goodness someone recognizes this is not scrap" and presented an opportunity to save a valuable artifact of marine power history on just the right board. IF he is going to sell, knowing the approx value would certainly be important as well as hopefully putting it into the hands of a true collector. This board would be just the right place to post that, for best chance to have this saved properly. An ebay posting might result in some yahoo doing something less respectful to or with it. And jeff description is really good. That being said, I've noticed that (in general) these old marine engines dont bring a real lot of money, not sure about this specific model though.
