I have a 4cyl in my 1954 Lyman new fuel tank,line,filter,fuel pump,rebuilt carb will not start without a shot of starting fluid this is a fairly new,sudden change was starting with ever even using choke using choke now makes no difference also have all new electical componants thanks in advance |

If the choke makes no difference, then it means that somewhere, there is an air leak into the intake manifold. It's probably a gasket issue. You should also look to make sure the screws holding the top and bottom of the carb body are tight. even if they are a bit lose, you'll have trouble starting. And makes sure there is a gasket there too. miro |

How does it run once it is started? If it has a good idle I wouldn't start pulling things apart looking for a vacuum leak. Try setting the high speed needle valve a little richer, in fact take it out and look for debris. Be careful of the gas that will come out if you remove it. Hope this helps Ernie |
