I am looking for plans for a small traditional Chesapeake Bay style boat. The engine for the proposed boat is a Termaat & Monahan 2 Cycle, 1 1/2 Horse power inboard. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Regards, Don |

Don ; Try locating the Mariners Musuem of Newport News Virginia on the WWW.Also the fine marine museum of Chesapeake working craft at St Micheals Maryland. They're certain to have lines and offsets of craft in their collection. They have an intriguing tunnel hull work boat on display that would be worthy of replication for a vintage engine. My very favorite in their collection is the Hooper Island Drake Tail but unless scaled down ;the design is intended for large engines. |

I was brought up to think of the "Drake Tail" as a "Mule Hoof" stern hull. I think the latter is more desriptive than the former. I wonder where the term "Drake Tail" came from as I have not seen any drakes on the bay that look like the hulls. All in fun guys and I do think the Mule Hoof stern hulls are realy great if you want to trot line for crabs. A true Chesapeake Bay creation. Don't know as I have ever seen a similar hull design anywhere. |

Dick, a derivation of the "Mule Hoof" is the "Slipper Stern" which reminds one of an unoccupied ballet slipper at the heel;ie a curvacious "Mule Hoof" |
