I was lucky enough to see one in person years ago at one of the Clayton Race Boat Shows. An old friend of mine, Phil Ballantyne had found and original 151ci single step with a Peerless in it. I don't remember the story any more as this was some time ago, but it seems like it was one of the right place at the right time deals. If I remember correctly the boat had both bow and stern rudders. I think that his son has since restored the boat out in California. Both the boat and engine were in incredible shape for being so old. The exposed rockers really made it something to see. Here is a link to an article with some more information. The engine in Houston Girl is a bit different, but still very cool. http://www.woodyboater.com/blog/2010/11/30/houston-girl-a-few-days-in-the-life-o f-a-lake-tahoe-show-girl/ |
