I'm trying to find out how much a 1920 Hicks Engine Co. with a "Make n Break ignition, Manzell oiler "The Drip o Later with automatic cam driven linkage is worth. The engine is clean and operational. If anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

Do you have the engine to sell, or buy? If your selling please PM me.

I heard the sad news of Maury's death a few months ago, I have the original Hicks engine that was in his Monterey Boat-- "The Di Maggio Engine"
Maury and I emailed over the years and he was helpful in finding the original waterpump for the engine. He is missed !

Very nice item to have!
From the wear track on the flywheel, I wonder if the motor has a generator or perhaps the optional water pump mounted on the left side?

Also can you tell me- is the bottom of the rear mount pads at the same "elevation" as front mounts?

I want to model the old narrow bedplate, but only have the drawing for the newer "wide mount" version (see my Hicks Model thread here).

Don't know what the wear ring on the flywheel is from ?

This side photo was without waterpump, believe Maury used an electric pump? He found the original pump some months later and sent it !

You can See "elevation".

DIXIE is a 32ft Monterey Clipper double ender fishing boat. She was built in 1924 by G. Beviaqua at the Genoa Boat Works, California.

Recently Larry Snow The very respected California Engine Man was researching The different Hick's marine engines and sent me information that the Hicks engine here was made !924-1927, That coincides with the date that DIXIE mas made. Good stuff and Thanks again Larry .

Were the splash guards on the cylinder "pillars" a factory fitting or added by owners?

Thank you Patrick! Do you mean you have the original factory blue prints for the engines?

Sorry, the forum above requires membership in order to see images... here's another post that talks about the drawings a bit:
