Looking at the carb inlet on #18 it appears to have a rotary valve, not too common on marine engines. |

I doubt the flywheel is the original, from the size, shape and "finish". |

I will give you an easy hint. The location on the name tag is one of the football teams playing this weekend.

Similar to the gas Kahlenbergs from Three Rivers WI. I wonder who copied who? |

I guess never posted a follow-up on the engine in pics 22 & 22a. A friend gave me molds off an original nameplate to get a repro cast for the engine. See attached pic. Im also attaching a patent that I think fits the Straubel engine; it patents the split section water jacket like the engine has, (water goes up one half of the water jack, flows across the head, then back down the other half of the water jacket). There are no water outlets on the top. See attached pic. Thats neat about the similarities to Kahlenberg. -Nick |

I tried for 4 years and 4 foundries before I got a good casting for my Straubel twin. Can Do Metal in St Ann Ill turned the pattern vertical and presto we got a good casting by feeding from the bottom. |
