I have run across a Kermath that seems to be from the 40's or early 50's that looks to be a typical flathead 6 cyl but has 12 plugs and the distributor for the 12 plugs. I have heard the comment that this is the way that Kermath marinized some Pontiac engines. If so it would be the 239 ci avail from '39 to '54. I have a listing of the Kermath models sold in '47 but don't see mention unless it is the Sea Rover.
Does anyone have info on this engine?--- ads listing it or magazine info? or know where it might have been used?

I have the same motor in a 26' former Ontario Hydro cable pulling boat. I've heard that Kermath experimented with this version and then discontinued it. I believe my motor is circa the mid to late 50's. Anyone with more info would be helpful. |

Have you been able to figure out what block it is built on--- I wondered if it was just a head that was made for a hercules block and then the distributor --- or maybe some other block ? I think Kermath went out of business in around '57.
can you get any numbers or letters off the block casting for your engine. can you post or send pictures of yours? |

My motor is a Sea Prince. I assumed it was a Hercules block. I don't have any photos but could probably post some. |

It would be really interestin to see some photos to see if this is the same engine. The name Sea Prince lets me do some more search and look for any ads that may have been around. I find a listing of carb kits for the kermath engines and the sea prince is listed with one carb from '36 to '46 and another is listed '40-'51 and then yet another from '50-'51 so this may represent the era of the engine. I wonder if kermath was marinizing Hercules blocks in that era. Any other details you can pull off the engine would be of interest.

None of the Hercules blocks Kermath converted used twin ignition.
Several of 100% Kermaths did. Dual distributors, dual magnetos or one of each was an option on Sea Wolf, Sea Farer, Sea Raider and Sea Raider Special Sixes and Twelves |

I havre a friend [email protected] who had and my still have one of these 12 sparlplug Kermath Engines. I believe he is quite knowledgable about them and may still have some parts. I have a Kermath Sea Prince that I just got going this weekend. Both engines were used in Duke and SeaBird boats manufactured in Port Carling Ont Canada. |

we have two kermath sea-mate engines which feature the 12 spark plug head with dual coils and distributors. I'm not sure of the pedigree but they are definately not herculese blocks. If anyone has leads on carbs for these engines by the way I'd be interested in hearing about it. |

I have a kermath sea mate 6 cly eng 12 plugs twin dist. I'am looking for a shop manual for this motor.eng type WX,serial num is 36633.anyone out there have one or know where to get one.also who has new parts for these engines.thanks |

Jim - approximately what year is that engine? I have Kermath catalogs from 1930 to 1940 that may be of some help. |

Post-War. Dual ignition was an option on several Kermath engines. Sometimes there is a flat spot next to the spark plug to drill and tap another hole if needed. |
