Dear board members: I am brand spanking new to this discussion board. I am seeking information on the spec's of the Redwing Hiawatha gasoline engine. 282 cubic inches, 6 cylinders. I am particularly interested in the weight, length, height and width of this engine. It was supposedly 55 horsepower. Can any of you help me get these specs? thank you in advance.

Hello Ron - what is the approximate year the engine was made? I have Red Wing Thorough Bred and a 1942 full line catalog in my collection.

Hi Robert, thank you for responding. I have responded twice, can't seem to see my post's I must be doing something wrong. So I'll try it again. It was made from the late 30's to the 50"s I think. It was a real heavy duty motor. I would appreciate any help you can give me thanks :-)

My Red Wing book written by Harry Munson list the Hiawatha as 52-85 HP, and made from 1935 to 1945. The original build record for this motor is still probably available, either from the Red Wing Marine museum, or the Goodhue County Historical society. Do you have the serial number?

Unfortunately there is no engine It was removed many years ago.I actually need the weight, height, width, and length. I am replacing what was once a Redwing with a diesel of the approximate horsepower. Thanks for all your help I e mailed the museum yesterday and am waiting for a reply, again many thanks. :-)
