Have 8 hp #L835323 in dory all there with reverse gear need info going to starting it |

This is NL2, is engine oil & reverse gear oil connected, if not how do check engine oil |

I got the motor running I believe you check oil in tranny it say keep one third full. But like to make sure this is the motor oil too. When running the sight glass is pumping oil. what oil would you use in this motor. thank on any info, Hoping to try in water soon |

Check for a brass wire sticking up on the aft Port side of the crankcase of the top half supporting the cylinders. It should have a cork float about 3" dia. by 1/2" thick. should move up and down freely in brass oval top guide. Trans mission is not connected to reverse gear in most models. You can take off the crankcase cover on either side of the cylinder portion and look for oil level which the cranks cause the rods to dip in the crankcase oil about 3/4". Use typical #30 car motor oil in engine crankcase and reverse gear crankcase. Engine normally is timed to run counter clockwise. |

Thanks Richard for this info very much needed. Lot of info here, You and the others saved me. My motor was missing the N gasket on the Schebler carb, cut new one got running pretty good. Thanks again Hope to put some picks on of dory & motor soon |
