I have just acquired a 1950's Chrysler Royal straight 8 engine. I am now looking for a qualified, experienced rebuilder in the Toronto region to do a complete restoration. The engine appears to be in pretty good condition but who knows what's under the hood. It turns freely but hasn't been in a boat for some time. Any recommendations? |

I second Parry automotive in Orillia. Also a small one man shop outside of Port Carling-can't recall the name. He had a restored ancient Van Blerk running during the ACBS Spring work shop tour in 2014. Doug Adams or Miro Forest will know his name. |

I would recommend Matt Fairbrass in muskoka. He rebuilds and looks after several vintage marine motors. His # is 705-641-0330. He also works with Parry auto. Good luck. |

Does anyone here have a manual for the Royal m48 (or m48s)? |

Aah that's what I'm looking for. I'm not troubleshooting anything in particular right now, but it would be a good companion for the restoration and for future maintenance reference. I have the corresponding manual for M46/M46S/M47/M47S and I find it quite useful. Very comprehensive compared to e.g. the Chris Craft Hercules manuals. Exploded views of water pump, oil cooler etc. I'm guessing you don't have it in electronic format? I'd be happy to pay for a scanned version. |
