I have a Stuart Turner P55 ( well it looks identical to the one shown on the home page) and i want to know more about it. It is fitted with a Sloex 26-FH carb that leaks at the venturi in the barrel - anyone got an exploded diagram of this carb/ - its had an attack of corrosion in the barrel and I can't figure out how the venturi should look. The engine turns over and fires once or twice but no joy in getting to the bottom of the carb story! The engine is also available for sale, semi-restored, but I'm down in Simonstown, South Africa......( I can also swop it for an equivalent marine diesel and gearbox to fit the same bed and shaft.) Any info will be much appreciated - I will get the serial number and post it on this site, soonest. |

Terry, I also have a P55 fitted with this carby. There is some info on Solex carby's on this site that may help. I will see what I have re exploded views. By the venturi do you mean the throttle flap? I had a lot of trouble with over-rich running, and experimented with various main jets. Can you tell me the code numbers stamped onto the flange of the main jet? You get to the jet by removing the top of the carby, then unscrewing the brass jet retainer beside the float bowl. A loose jet about 2cm long resides there. |

David asks, "By the venturi do you mean the throttle flap?" DON: I believe the 'venturi' is the narrowing or constricting of the carby's air flow tube, cast in the carby's body. Because the same amount of air flows through this restricted area, the air speeds up, allowing for a better mixing of the fuel droplets introduced into the airflow in or near the venturi.. The air resumes its former speed as it exits the venturi area. Don White |

Terry, I have a diagram of the Solex Type 26 FHDL Which is very similar and the closest I have found to that fitted to the P55. Can you send me an email address or postal address and I will send you a copy. |

I have aquired a P55ME and was wondering if anyone has a wiring diagram. The plug leads are flapping in the in air and it looks as though 2 coils should be attached somewhere between the HT leads and the 2 wires coming out of the WIPAC housing (with the 2 contact breakers). Any info greatfully received. |

Just broke the water pump mounting casting on a P55ME. Seems that the pump piston had seized up. Occured when cranking the engine after about a months storage.Engine installed on a Virtue sailboat. Does anybody have the necessary parts for repair in the USA? Any help much appreciated! Nick |

NICK, Check with Roger DiRuscio at [email protected] or work phone 510-226-9785. Roger had a Stuart Turner that was not repairable and may have the part you need. Good luck, Arthur |

Thank you Roger for helping with that broken water pump on the Stuart Turner P55ME. Unfortunately we have the pump that is driven out of the side of the block. So we are still looking for the pump. regards Larry/Nick |
