Hey all, new to the site and hoping I could garner some information out of those more knowledgeable than I.

I am looking at buying an old Evinrude 9.5HP. Model# 9722M (1967) Serial # E08266.

When I look up that number on Texas Parks and Wildlife Ownership inquiry, it shows it as a titled 1969 85 HP Evinrude. I read that Evinrude changed their serialization in 1969, so it possible that duplicate numbers exist? Or did some one make a mistake when they had their 85 hp (model 85993 from what i can tell) titled?

Gotcha. Thats what I had come up with too as far as the motor in question.

Is it possible that Evinrude, when they changed the way they serialize things, used a duplicate number for a 1969 85 HP Outboard? Or is it more likely an error with Texas Parks and Wildlife?
