Hey all, new to the site and hoping I could garner some information out of those more knowledgeable than I. I am looking at buying an old Evinrude 9.5HP. Model# 9722M (1967) Serial # E08266. When I look up that number on Texas Parks and Wildlife Ownership inquiry, it shows it as a titled 1969 85 HP Evinrude. I read that Evinrude changed their serialization in 1969, so it possible that duplicate numbers exist? Or did some one make a mistake when they had their 85 hp (model 85993 from what i can tell) titled? |

HI I looked at all the 9.5 HP model numbers and yours shows as a 1967. Below are all the model numbers that Evinrude used on the 9.5 HP engines for reference. Year Model 1964 10422 9422 9423 1965 10522 9522 9523 1966 10622 9622 9623 1967 10722 9722 9723 1968 10822 9822 9823 1969 9922 9923 1970 9022 9023 1971 9122 9123 1972 9222 9223 1973 0322 9322 9323 |

Gotcha. Thats what I had come up with too as far as the motor in question. Is it possible that Evinrude, when they changed the way they serialize things, used a duplicate number for a 1969 85 HP Outboard? Or is it more likely an error with Texas Parks and Wildlife? |

That I can't answer. Google Evinrude serial numbers and see what you find. There is a ton of info out there on the net |
