Was wondering if anybody knows the color scheme for hawboldt engines. I have one with a 5" bore and would also like to know the hp. Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks

Eric, I don't know the bore/stroke but the flywheel is 17.5" diameter and 3.5" wide on the edge. It is 7 hp and appears to have always been black. Dick

Hi Dick, Well I just went out and double checked my flywheel, it is 3 3/4 wide...and 15 1/2 diameter and it looks like it was NEVER machined nicely as yours is...kinda rounded on the edges. Also When I bought it I thought there wqs some Brazing on the water pump, but after cleaning it up in a blast cabinet....it looks like the foundry guys got lazy and some sand pulled out with the pattern. Maybe its later engine, there is no evidence of a tag being on it where yours is. The other castings also seam a little cruder as well.

That is one nasty casting! I guess there are a number of different flywheels. My 8 hp, two cylinder Hawboldt flywheel is 3.25" X 15".
