I have a 1966 flagship 327. need to replace the alternator. was thinking about one wire set up. any input? also what size? I have 2 batteries used just for starting, running light, bilge and radios. thanks in advance. |

I think a 25-30 Amp unit will suit you fine, you probably don't need anything more than that. Most of the time after starting you'll be using about 2-3 Amps.

Go to an old fashioned rebuild shop. Tell them you want a Delco 10SI one wire marine. Used on most GM cars in the 1970s. About $100 locally. |

All Tech Auto Electronics in Danbury CT does amazing work on antique electrics. They rebuilt my bosch dynastart and a 50yr old french made alternator that were in deplorable condition. Now they look and work like new. Of course it cost about $275 each. Give them a call if you cant find a suitable replacement. |
