Wondering if anyone can ID this engine? Is it even a marine engine? It wasn't being used as one during its last usage.

I don't recognize it. How about a side and 3/4 view. Any kind of thrust bearing or any evidence
of a marine transmission or adjustable pitch prop?

How about one of the SF CAL engines? There is one in the "Yellow Book". Can't remember the name. Maybe Rasberry or Strawberry.....

If you can stand looking at some old non marine engines there are 4 more photos of this engine on the last page of my website.

I can see no trace of where any shaft or gearbox might have been attached.

Nice web site. I looked at the Unknown engine side view and I see a governor mechanism. I also
see the big and heavy cast iron base. I really have no idea what this engine is but I would GUESS that it's not set up as is for marine use.
Someone here should know for sure.
