Dating Engines with ads is even better when the ad does it for you !

Getting rid of external oilers in 1909 was cutting edge technology !

Richard, You must have a great old catalog library!! Has anyone ever thought of sharing catalog scans? (like napster). I have some originals and some Xerox that I would be happy to scan in trade for stuff I need/

Tom , I have several eng co. catalogs, old boating magazines and some old books with marine eng info,in them. I have learned how to reference the Co. or info that I am researching, but it is still time consuming to do. From 1890's to 1915-20 is the time span I am most interested in
( The Golden Age of gas Engines).
George Boely (spelling)some time back copied magazines and info and put them in booklet form and sold them, saw him at a Florida Flywheelers show, a year or so ago, and he indicated he was out of the old boats and engs ( our loss he was knowlegable and capable and also interested in sharing his knowlege).
I like to have a factory catalog and other info on every eng that I own,it's history is half the fun.
If you or any of the collectors need info on a certain eng , I am more than happy to e-mail you what I have available time permiting. Good to share here on this site for all interested to enjoy but if need for bigger more detailed , more pixels can e-mail direct.
Another info collector is Bob Price, his barn should be about ready to tip over from the weight of his collection, he was going to bring some of it to shows --- RB ???

This is 1898 ad !

For those of us who were at Calvert last year - it's really interesting to see the ad for the Murray and Tregurtha - Keith B - you're a hero, for doing that engine.

And for those of you who were at Calvert last year, I brought my catalog collection. It is my intention to bring it to any show I attend so that others may browse them. And Richard D. is right, the history is at least half the fun.

I will be glad to copy any of my catalogs for those who might want something.

Cheers

Bob Price
