just got a boat and found this engine aboard. looks to be in good shape but old. the tag is pretty worn and the boat is a 1974 Canadian-made sail. I may opt to put this motor in a different boat more for fishing. I like the idea of having diesel on the water. would like to know anybody who knows how to hook one up and start it on dry dock plus anything I should do to prep the motor before I start it.(cooling water, electrical, etc) the prop turns and motor is not froze up. I will figure it out with no help but, I never turn away good advice. also would like to know what type of boat I should look for that will be a good match for this motor skiff-wise etc. thx, rr |

to continue on this Yanmar, i'm thinking I may want to fit this engine & trans into an oyster boat lile a smaller version of a Deadrise or Cheasapeake Bay Deckboat. My idea is to use this type of boat for fishing or even small fishing parties and charters. I like the design of these boats because they make fishing easy from the sides. To design or retrofit a hull for this inboard-type of setup, what measurements do I need to consider for engine placement, shaft length, overall boat moment (engine to max load. plus how to calculate max payload totals, etc. RayRay |
