Hello...I'm re-posting a previously asked question about a Palmer pw27 engine....Has anyone used a heat exchanger with this engine?? I am going to use one in a boat I'm building and would like to consider using a heat exchanger for it as opposed to raw water cooling....has this been done? If so is there a commercially available exchanger available? Has anyone made one for one?....It just seems like the practical thing to do to prolong life and durability of the engine......Please any info would be greatly appreciated...

I suppose a heat exchanger is possible. The only problems that I see arising are: Location of circulating pump and expansion tank, The heat exchanger itself comes in many configurations.
I would defer to Mr. Day as far as the efficiency/practicality.

I would definitely look at doing it to mine if it were in salt (i.e. ocean salinity) waters.

Did you ever get you Palmer 27 cooling system together. I will be using this engine in saltwater. So am planning to use a plate heat exchanger and a 12v solar hot water pump. Water from the stock pump will go from, pump to the heat exchanger to the exhaust manafold. I found a Palmer 27 that seems to be in good condition. Good compression, good spark, no cracks, and clean water passages.
I looked hi and low but can find no serial no. Just P-27 on the head.
