I just picked up a 3 cylinder Frisbie. So far I have not found any real helpful informtion about colors and technical stuff. My American Gas Engine book states that it is rather of an elusive builder. If anyone has any information or can point me in the right direction it would be most helpful. |

Frisbie was a big and important builder that went out of business I think in the 1929 crash. Wendel really does a lot of poor editing on marine engines in general. He also doesn't like to admit gross errors. Go to a source of Motor Boat or Power Boat magazines from the WWI to late 1920s. Try libraries of Marine Museums. |

I have a Frisbie catalog... but I don't think there is any mention of engine color. Very little of the early marine engine literature mentions engine color.

Ed: " Engines Afloat " volume I by Stan Grayson has some information on Frisbie!On page 180 is a starboard side picture of a 1916, three cylinder,
with reverse gear!If you go to home page--links----suppliers--Devereux books, the book is listed on his web page.Overhead valves, big mechanical oiler,serious marine engine!I'll scan it and attach it, we'll see how this works out |

I have 2 of these,both 2 cyl models ,I also have a original frisbie catalog from around 1910 showing an older model than the 2 i have bob.

i think it is original paint i compared it to dark green rustoleum about the same shade the center valve style was painted blue by the previous owner to protect it but underneath it is good old green would you e-mail me i need some help with a platform that is off of the inspection plate and held what i believe is a box containing 2 buzz coils also a pic of your timer set up would be of most help bob........ |
