Hi, does anybody know the part number of a fuel filter that will fit in a CAV No.583 pot? Its an element type of filter and is fitted to a BMC Commodore in my Dutch barge. I would be really greatful if someone could shine some light. I prefer to keep everything original, but i'm having a feeling I will be fitting some new filter housings. I prefer not too as everything is in good clean original condition and having a sparkling new filter kit will no fit in too well. |

Can't really look it up with just that info.Under bmc it says look under brittish leyland.Would need a model number or engine number or old filter number from one taken out.If that filter was used on something else then its likly its still made. |

I believe what you have is an old school CAV type F filter housing and I suspect that yours is a Type F2B. This can be confirmed by it being a single bowl and a fuel oil return back to the bowl. No matter though as the element was the same as follows: BALDWIN PF838 CAV F2/2 CAV 7111/44 MANN P923/1 WIX 33114 Go here and you can find a manual to confirm that has been kindly posted by someone else. http://l-36.com/manuals/CAV-Diesel-Fuel-Filter.pdf Cheers Nobby

Hi. I have a daf 475 engine fitted with a cav F2B filter pot. The pot looks as though it simply unscrews but I am having g difficulty shifting it. Can anyone confirm how to remove it? |

See the web address in my prior post to the CAV filter manual. Page 15 starts a service description for the F2B. There is a nut on top that you unscrew to release the bowl, the manual shows all this clearly. Cheers Nobby |
