I have the Bennett and Tapley which you possibly were involved with. I bought it at one of the Beaulieu Boatjumbles. I have added missing parts to it since then, and discovered some history. They made twin cylindered and four cylinder versions |

Thanks Richard it certainly looks like the engine I remember. I think they must be quite rare as I have never been able to find any mention of them. Am trying to locate its current whereabouts but the trail is quite cold. Thanks again Tim |

Please read my previous post - I think I have the engine. Would have posted more photos, and history but struggled to reduce photos to below 200kb. Click on my name and email me if you would like to see what info I have. Regards Richard |

Here is a black and white photo I was given of the engine which is probably how the person I bought the engine from received it? The chain wheel and crank was missing when I bought it, but I have replaced it and also made a magneto bracket and other parts as per the original drawing.

Richard, Yesterday I bumped into the retired foreman of Dixon and son boat builders of Exmouth and mentioned the Bennett and T engine that was buried under the bench all those years ago. He not only remembered it but said his brother has it !. He has not done anything to it at all and I hope to get to see it soon. Regards Tim |

That's quite amazing. Will be very interested to hear and possibly see) what it looks like. At least you now know what a Bennett and Tapley engine is supposed to look like. If he wants it to go to a good home please let me know? |
