Navy Diesel- type DB B-100 inline 6Info needed. Any info about this engine manufactured by Norfolk Naval Shipyard circa 1940's-1950's would be helpful, H.P. rating, bolt torque specs, where used, etc. |

Thanks for help. In the process of pulling it apart to see what the inards look like. There's a tag showing it was rebuilt in 1958 at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. I don't think it's been run since. Its gummed up and won't bar over. Just some additional info; starter and generator are leece-neville 24volt, fuel pump is Ex-Cell-O,oil filter is Cuno, oil cooler is Harrison, waterpump is Sherwood. The starter and generator setup is similar to the 4 cylinder Imperial engines, but I can't find any pictures or info on a six cylinder from Imperial. Reduction gear is Joe's |

Making Progress. Found out that the earlier B-100 was made by Buda. The later by Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Some changes occured to the basic engine. Nany style head was used in lieu of the lonova head, oil pan sump went to the rear, scavenger pump was eliminated, compresion release aid was eliminated, water plumbing was rerouted, different fuel nozzles, etc. It's back together and nearing a test fire. I am now in need of a Leece-Neville 1376 R voltage regulator. Any ideas where to start looking? Prestolite now makes the leece-neville product line but the old regulators are not available. |

The DB was 60 horsepower. Yours looks like mine. Good, simple engine. I'm trying to find out when they were first built. |

Pre '44 as mine came with a blue print dtd '44 which is when the Navy style head was retrofitted. My engine is a mild modification of the Buda and was manufactured by Norfolk Naval shipyard and came with a parts book dtd 1955. It was used in a 40 and 50' motor launch.Reverser gear was by Joe's gear and reduction is morse chain company. Manuals are usually available on ebay or thru book stores on line and the interloan Library system can get a reference copy. |

Yes,..This is a DB Budda Diesel, like we had in the Coast Guard 36ft Double ended Rescue Boat (36425) we had in the Westport Washington Life Boat Station, in the early 1960's. It really ran well for us. |
