As a long time owner of MG midgets and Austin Healey Sprites, I have a couple of spare 1275cc A-series engines on hand. I would like to incorporate one of these into a small homemade Mahogany runabout in the 30s style. I am looking for a marine manifold and other marine oriented parts for this engine. Any help finding them or information about it would be much appreciated, and if someone had parts for sale, I would be interested in purchasing. |

try old sail boats Weterbeake use to import them for sail boats in the NE ,,, |

Take a look at our site on www.morrismarine.org.uk
It may have a few ideas for you.
The largest of the A series in true marine form was the 1100cc Vedette but all the parts would fit a 1275cc unit. Would then equal the High Speed variant which was rare. |

That's sacralige putting a Morrie 1275 A-series in a boat! I hope its not a Copper 'S' motor! They are good motors though having spent years in and under them. Marinising would be easy as there are hundreds of after market parts available.
A raw water pump from Jabsco, a header tank from Weterbeake etc and a few hand made bits and your away.
Remember though that marine engines are constant duty and run cooler than road engines.
Suggestions:
1. replace the single timing chain for a double chain for reliability.
2. Restirct the by-pass hose a little to force more water through the engine.
3. Use a centre oil pickup.
4. A new late model oil pump and a thick rimmed ring gear for the flywheel (better torque).
5. Also you can use a CRANE CAMS aftermarket electronic ignition instead of points.
6. Slip in a modern cam 731 equivalent and you should have a good donk! |

I have seen a couple of marine Datsun engines come up for sale on ebay, get an E1, J13, A14, etc series one, and the parts will bolt right up to A series. |

I have a bmc verdette engine gearbox and prop still fitted in a boat,was running but someones borrowed the distriduter cap and dinamo,would sell all as boat is shot,a burton norfolk 01692651021 |

I have a 1100 cc verdette engine i would like to renovate.
I am looking for the following parts-
complete gear box
Flywheel
Distributor
I would be interested in hearing from anyone with any of the above parts they would like to sell or any other spares.
I'm also looking for any servicing books or any literature which may help in restoring this engine.

hi has anyone got an details of where we could age date a bmc vedette 1100 cc eng no81100613..also this motor has the original vedette gbox and reduction gear..we are looking to fit it to a 1.5 bmc diesel..will it all fit..any help would be apreciated.thanks |
