Can anyone tell me what the difference is between these 2 engines other than what shows on the posted item? I believe many components are the same but still approx 40lbs difference. Also interesting that they are similar Hp up to 2000rpm or so and the chart stops at 2400 for the UAC. Which makes sense being a workhorse engine instead of higher speed runabout engine like the UAB. |

The UAB and UAC are the same engine. Rated at 45 HP. The UAC has a reduction gear if I remember correctly. The above post is correct, Contact Dave Triano in South Lake Tahoe as he has collected a lot of Lycoming information as they were used in Dodge boats. The UAB and later UAE (58 HP) were also used in the Mullins Sea Eagle line of boats. Cheers, Lew |

Hi All, I have been in contact with Dave in the past as well as on this question and he has no info on the UAC. The UAC has lower compression @ 5:1 vs UAB at 6:1 (some publications say 6.25:1). So far only the head seems different with different stampings on it and a larger dish for the cylinders. All of the externals are the same and so far all of the valves and lifters. The top of the block has stamped in it UAC right by the intake and it looks like it was done at factory to differentiate it from a UAB. Also the UAC has a straight 1" diameter out shaft vs I think 3/4 or 7/8 tapered. I am disassembling one for parts and am trying to see how much I can use to resurrect a UAB. I was hoping some one could tell me if the crank/pistons/ cam etc are the same. Thanks, Chris |
