I have a amc 327 and want to know the procedure to winterize the last few years I have had a shop do it...not practical anymore |

Mark,
I had a shop do my motor as well! Same motor pretty much, 327 Fireball. That being said, what I do is, I simply unhook the sea water hose that draws sea water for cooling the motor. I then attach a hose to the intake hose just to lengthen it,I take a pail and fill it with plumbers anti-freeze. I then stick the hose into the pail and run the engine, once the anti-freeze is getting sucked up you want to make sure it starts to spit out the exhausts out the back. Once you see that anti-freeze shooting out its good to go as its filled the whole system with anti-freeze.
You want to use the anti-freeze that they use in RV's. You can find that stuff at an RV dealer or Canadian Tire (if you live in Canada).
As far as freezing and issues etc I've never had any and I live up in an area where it dips down to the negative 15's and 20's. Then the following season you just do what you have to get the motor running. I've been doing this for the last 4 years and all is well! Hope this helps you out and saves you a buck! |
