Came across this interesting piece....it whispered Palmer but can you believe whispers. I'm having trouble posting pics and find the exercise very frustrating but here goes the fourth try |

Another pic. I seem to be getting the hang of it so watch out. This view shows a large bevel gear. It is non-ferris probably bronze. |

This is an interesting engine. Many say Ford T but it is not. A hint, the engine designers used the model T as an inspiration. |

Hello Robert, you never could read upside down and I'm sure your mid range memory has kicked in. The company that made the engines also made watches. I have one of their pocket watches. The watches are called "Waltham" as in Massachusetts but the engines are not. Notice that the exhaust manifold is a marine wet exhaust. |

The first piece has the decompression arrangement and gear train of an early Atlas Gas engine of California. The piece is the middle crankcase cover that goes between the sump and the cylinders. The bevel gear is for the ignitor drive on top of the cylinder head.

Thanks George, I've got pieces of an early Atlas with a non-removeable head IRRC. Maybe we've got parts of the same engine Joe. You can have what I've got if you want, but it's a project for someone like George as far as the head is concerned. |

Thank you for the info George and for your offer Robert. I wonder if your bit goes with mine....in any case mine is free for any one who can use it.
The four cylinder T look alike is circa 1914 with an interesting twist.
To George, I see you like diesel engines. I have a Ruston Hornsby 4 cylinder with a large built on clutch looking for a new home. |
