Hi, first post here! I'm thinking of getting into old inboards marine engines (antique outboard collector) and wondered if anyone could ID this one?

This is the big show, Do you have Stan Grayson book on Old marine engines, If not Please buy it now. Many engines are covered there, I wish I could remember them all. Some of the worlds most knowedgeable collectors do hang out here at this web site. Wish I could help more

Not much info on Blomstrom Motors so far, this ad is 1902 and shows an igniter ignition, your eng and these file photos are jump spark- (spark -plug)
Like The mouth of Henry Clay, it speaks for itself!

Old Saint Nick was good to me again this year, the day before Christmas he showed up at my place shook the snow off of this old timer and put it under the tree !
So very few Blomstrom Marine engines have shown up that its difficult to get much info on the old
mfgr and just what he mfgrd and when ?
The silver gray engine in above posts has serial # 765.This engine and the red one above it seem to be the model H like the 1902 ad above in that both of them have the cast boss in the port side of the crankcase to support the variable propeller lever, also both of the engs have front and rear crankshaft bearing flanges, lever
operated timers are also common to both.
This engine is different in many respects and I would assume a different model number ??
The Timer is different than any I have seen on very old marine engs, the sationary point is insulated from the timer body and the plate rotates with the lever to advance and retard, the timer body is stationary, when lever is moved to extreme it grounds the insulaed point assembly and stops ignition ?

Who are you trying to kid Richard - you live in Florida and they do not have fireplaces in their living rooms so Santa could not have brought that to you it must have been Susan. Lovely engine.

Okay I admit that it wasn't actally Santa that brought the engine but one of his helpers and he was in a mini-van !
About not having a fireplace, a very capable stone mason made this one in my house 35 yrs ago, he used 3 inch slabs of coral reef that was sawed from the crosscut canal on north Key Largo in the Florida Keys in the 1960's ? The shelves were a handy place to put some of my old bottle collection. some I brought up from salvage diving 50 yrs ago !

Nice early engine Richard. Miro told me he's flying in with the Goss family, legs-knees won't allow the ride down with Bob. Things start Thursday the 21st of March at my shop, Friday the southern tour, Saturday we head north(or less south for Miro, he says there is no north in Louisiana), Sunday at my camp in Belle River. For those that can stay Monday, David Prejean is planning another swamp tour. The group last year enjoyed it. All are invited. |

evnen folks, it`s kevin by the way. I see I`ve missed the boat! Ill leav it hear for all. first, thanks to Mike Schreiber for posting for me. now too the blomstrom, looking back at post 10-13-12 and the ad from 1902 one could notice a igniter port on both, a throttal at center of cyl, i found this when I inspected mine. also the mixer inlet is at center of crankcase,and thier are two sepret crankcase ends. as well as a 4 1/2 wide flywheel,bilg pump (botom of coolent pomp)and a 6 bolt head. hay! looking at all ta gether, we`v got 3 diferent hp models! or is it improvments over time? found some info at www.american aotomobile.com aswell as "ehow" and "Bently Historical Library,University of MI."}} |

The Lamb,Clinton is a pedestal base engine and has the front crankshaft bearing flange - This old Marine Engine is so cool to look at that its picture with several others are tacked up on the wall of the barn, above them is a classic calender photo of Betty Grable, if anyone isn't familiar with her "legs" be thankful your not that old !
