The five bolt water pump on my Gray U has a plunger cap of some sort stuck in it. There's a spring that sits in it, and tension is provided by the brass plug that screws in the top. The stuck cap is non-magnetic, and looks like it could be made from fiber. There's another assembly underneath it, consisting of a spring and plunger. I don't want to break the stuck cap. I've tried air pressure and a needle nose, but no luck. Anyone had one of these apart? Ideas welcomed. Thanks, Tom

Update, I finally was able to remove the stuck valve, with lots of WD-39-1/2, trying air pressure, but it was finally the needle nose that pulled it loose. The cap / valve turned out to be brass. |
