GRAY Model U cylinder removal

Visitor Posted on Wednesday, January 09, 2013 - 07:32 pm:        I want to replace the crankcase gasket, and inspect the main bearings.In order to remove the cylinder from it's base, do I have to disconnect the connecting rod through the port holes first, or can I remove the cylinder and crankshaft from the base as one unit? Are the main bearings one piece, or two? Are they adjustable? Thanks.   J.B.
