Richard, I do most of my sleeves with a Storm boring bar. This machine came from one of the local sugar mills, once tractors went to sleeves they didn't use it and it sat there for years. In the literature there's a time saving adapter for the Ford model A & B and the 60 & 85hp V8's. I believe it's from the late thirties or early forties, don't know when they became Storm Vulcan but this pre-dates the merge. |

dont know if that would help.i dont even know how to adjust the cutters when the head is in place.i never seen anything like this before.can you give me any tips. |

The Boring Bar in the ad above was patented in 1916 Pat # 1209513 by Adolph Storm and Edward O Hair, it looks to me like the cylinder ridge reamers that are still being used ??
The later design that bolts to the block was patented in 1932 by Adolph Storm Pat # 1862866, the design seems the same for Storm,Winona,Kwik Way, Van Norman, Sunnen etc !

I Have a boring Bar like that one I am looking for tooling for it I am told Van Norman 888 or 999 tooling will work on Iether machine. I am unsure if that's correct. But I am looking forward to get this working. Any one have knowledge of this? |

I have 3 different size Van Norman boring bars, the 888 is a large machine, I think it goes to about 7". The 777 & 944 may share the same tooling but there are two different small bars, measure the size of the hole that the cutter goes in. |

These storm boring bars aren't worth near what other brands, such as kwik-way and rottler, because its hard to find parts and tooling for them. I have been cabbaging on to every Bcg I can find to keep mine going. In the last 6 years I have bought 7 bars with and without tooling. The most expensive one yet was just over 700.00 shipped from California. I have seen them higher but I wouldn't get my hopes to high on getting the 1800.00-3000.0 a worn out kwik-way will bring. I would be Interested in it if it has some tooling. |
