Can anyone help me with this one? This engine is in my Mullins Sea Eagle but seems different than any typical UAB that I have seen. There does not seem to ba any place to mount a generator and the oil cooler (?) is much larger than any I have seen before. Also this has a Schebler model T2 (not sure if right model but is stamped in to housing) on it. Shouldn't it have a holley if it is supposed to be a 1935? |

Restoration puzzles are always fun! your engine is a question as it is not a UAB but a UA. So, it is the same basic configuration as the UAB or my UAE. Here is a picture of an early 30s UAB as used in a Dodge Utility. It shows the additional plate that the generator is mounted on and then driven by pully. The second pic does not do much good but shows the generator collar and mounting.(The red & white engine hidden in the back.) Cheers, Lew

Does it seem odd that it would be a UA? If my boat is a 1935 it should be a UAB. Early Sea eagles measure 15'6" and later ones 15'9" from what I understand. I measured my sea eagle and it is 15'6" with the bow piece in place. Neither of your 2 pics show that type of oil cooler and the plate from my engine says it is a marine unit. Still scratching my head... |

If I understand it correctly, the UA is the base model that the options are built around. So seeing UA on the block is no surprise. What might be more telling is looking at the castings and see if there are any dates. Is it possible that someone put in an earlier UA at some point in the boats life, sure. This weekend I will get the pictures out and look closer at my engine too. Cheers, Lew |

Thanks Lew, I assume this plate was fabricated? I am hoping to modify similarly to put a generator on. It would be helpful to get details on how it was done. Do you know who I could contact? |
