Goodday all I bought this eng. a few years ago & don't know much about it- it's mounted on the display rig it came with --I found the letters PARAS & 60 stamped on the back left side of the block just below the head--any other info. would be appreciated. I assume this is a marine engine as the cooling water goes through the oil pan & I don't see where a rad would hook up _ I can be told I'm wrong about this! Hi, Larry,

What you have appears to be a combination of an Alpine Marine engine and either a later 1,724cc five-bearing engine or someone has fitted later carbs and manifold to the original 1,592cc engine.

I assume there's no engine number in the usual place you'd find one if the engine were in a car but the number on the back of the block doesn't tie up with the numbers Rootes Marine (Tilling Stevens) used on Alpine Marine engines.

There was no radiator - the header tank has a heat exchanger incorporated in it and the raw water for that first passed through the sump cooling pipes and finally entered the exhaust manifold.

I'm currently restoring a boat with the same engine.

Goodday Paul Thanks for the information! You can contact directly at [email protected] I would be interestd in trading this engine for something more in line with what I collect (early stationary open flywheel engines)Larry
