Hi everyone, I found a vintage tin sign in an old barn this week that reads "World Famous Kermath Marine Engines". The sign appears to be homemade, but well done, and is a deep red and blue with the Kermath logo being done in white or a cream colour. I'd say it dates from the late 1950's or early 60s and likely came from a repair shop at one time. Does anyone know if Kermath issued store display signs etc. as I can only find paper advertisements? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks |

I have a large collection of antique Kermath marine engine sales literature but have never seen anyone offering for sale a tin sign like one would find for a farm engine.

Thanks Bob, just to clarify the sign if for marine engines. I found it in a barn while I was scouring a century farm for items of interest. I'll try to post a couple pictures of it, just to show you what I've acquired.

FANTABULOUS - that is a great find Mike. The colors are correct and the type style is correct.
I wonder if the company is still in business in Hamilton, ONT.

Thanks for getting those posted Bob, and you're very welcome. I wanted to share my find with those who would both appreciate it and who would be able to educate me on what I got. I was told the sign likely came from a defunct repair shop in northern Ontario, but the steel was definately made in Hamilton...the Pittsburgh of Canada of sorts. Thanks for letting me know the colours and type set are correct. I find it very strange that I haven't seen any official Kermath trade signs anywhere, yet anyway. Oh, the sign measures approximately 36 inches by about 21 from the edges of the frame.
Thanks again for taking the time to post these for me and your members. I respect the expertise and passion you all have for vintage marine engines.
