Richard I have a basket case one. There is one up in Annapolis missing its flywheel. They are very distinct around the rim unlike any I have seen on any other makers engines. I offered to give the owner the flywheel off mine. Never heard back from him. Curious no answer. His had been in his family for many many years. I will hunt out some photos I think I have a couple anyway and send them along. |

The ad above is from 1902, In 1908 this ad from the Stanley Marine Motor Co.says we also mfgr the Toquet motors, I am wondering if Stanley may have mfged these engs for Toquet all along ?

I seem to remember reading years ago Pierce of Pierce, Budd and Nye had moved west from Boston to join up with Budd and Nye to make racing engines for boats. At some point Nye dropped out of this group. This is the same group who advocated the idea of mixing oil in the fuel to lubricate two strokes. This "daring inovation" appears on page 179 of the April 1909 Power Boat magazine. Pierce went on I believe to become one of the great automobile engine designers of his time. . |

thanx for all the info!! the engine and pumps destiny is up in the air right now..the shed its in is being scrutinized for more storage....is it worth anything to anybody?? ..it still turns over and has a box of parts that seem to go with it.... |
