I am in the process of restoring a 1936 Johnson Model 300 Outboard 3.7 HP. I cannot get a spark or the spark is poor. The Coils, points and all the wiring seem fine but still no spark. I can bench test using a 1.5 Volt battery and get a spark but it still will not work as a magneto. It has a weak magnet so this may be the problem. My next step is to try to recharge the magnet. I would be very pleased if anyone has a charger that can do this. The Flywheel inside diameter between the magnet pole shoes is 5 3/16 inches. I can do it. But I'm in Los Angeles. I have had decent success with Maytag Flywheels and one Coldwell Cub Flywheel. |

P.S. Yes, that's the problem typically with a weak spark. Do you have access to a Gauss meter? |
