Hi there! I have a 215 V8 from Rover/Buick/Gray and I cant find which type of spark plugs to use. Im not sure if the old ones are correct when the engine never has been used in the boat before, its a marin converted car engine! The holes for the plugs are also so narrow that you cant use a ordinare spark plug tool for removal! HELP, please!! |

The champion book says RJ12yc. the ac 44ffs crosses to champ RL95yc the 95 denotes a special industrial or marine plug. All of thease plugs are listed as 13/16 hex,but at some point didn't gm go to the 5/8 hex. |

I seem to remember that GM wnet to the 5/8s hex after production of the 215 cu in engine family had gone to England and Gray Marine Buick and Olds only produced them 61 to 63 The small spark plugs showed up in the 70s |

No all the ones listed are 13/16. I was thinking that maybe you might have a newer replacement head with smaller plugs as your wrench did not seem to fit.I was remembering back then when they bought a new turck in 1970 all at once the sparkplug sockets didn't work anymore. |

I'm really confused now! I have this plugs to choose from, which is right? AC MR43T AC MR44TS AC MR44FFS CHAMPION RJ12YC CHAMPION RL95YC NGK BPR6S NGK BPR6FS I want to use a 16 mm, or 5/8" tool. Is the seating for the plug conical or flat in theese engines? |

the ac mr44ts crosses to a champion rv12c which is a 5/8 hex and taper seat on 14mm threads. The mr43t is a slightly cooler plug of the same.If those came out of your engine all the plugs we listed are NOT taper, but about the same heat range. You need to look at your head and see if you have the taper. |

OK Lawrence! I will check again but as I remembered it looked liked its tapered? Doesnt all cylinder heads have this taper in the spark plug hole? How can I see if its made for a flat or tapered plug?? |

Before 1970 most cylinder heads did NOT have tapers and used plugs with flatish washers. There should be a similar taper on the head as is on the plugs if it uses taper plugs. If someone just forced some taper plugs in there there will be just small flareing from the wrong plugs forced in.i have several engine made before 1970 and after and if you don't know the year you have to look and see whats in them. |

OK, I will check during the weekend Lawrence! I had 8 plugs over when I changed in my 69 Camaro and they are AC R44TS and should probably fit and work just for a start up! |
