Hllo all,the fuel pump on the 12m stopped working, I assume it would be some diaphram etc,which you would xpect to buy along wth a gasket kit,spoke to Charles this arvo from Gineico whom I have dealt wth in past for Lombardi parts,he appears to be the sole importer of drofin spares,informs me that kits not available,only new complete pumps at $340+,a big cost if not repairable and gone again in 18 months.Should I bypass and go to electric pump,if so can anyone recomend a suitable pump type/size if you have done same, regards phill |

Suggest you ask a local diesel mechanic re spares - having the pump in hand would make life easier. The electric pump sounds feasible provided you blank off or leave the old pump in place.
Talk around the idea. or perhaps place a more general question on old maine engine. |

Hi detecta2, Had the same problem with mine a few years ago and found it easier to scribe a plate using the existing pump flange. I used a hi-flow in-line electric pump from supercheap, (around $50.00) hard wired to the ignition. Works great. Very good idea when u need to bleed the fuel lines. |

Ive taken the old manuel pump off ,cut the lever off so dosnt squeak running dry in future and blocked the inlet and refitted, bypassing wth solid state 12v fuel pump[4 to 7 lb pressure flow 39ltr/hour]$79,could by same wth fractionally smaller output on ebay for $55 posted but didnt want to wait., seems to work fine, phill |

hllo kip,wouldnt know how to put photo, but very simple, undid nut on front engine mount,put a "L"bracket on there then screwed the little solid state electric fuel pump to that, cut the pipes in and out of the manuel pump, and attatched to elect pump according to arrows which indicate direction of flow, then wired it into toggle switch on control panel next to ignition ,so turn on and off as you start and stop motor.Then took old pump off and took little plunger rod out of block that operates old pump then block inlet and outlet of old pump and refit it,all up an hours work, Phill |
