This Little Engine was only advertised for about three consecutive summer months of 1911, the engine illustration I believe only appeared once
in June 1911.

If you look for history on this company there really isn't any, stans books says look to Pausing that bought them but that was 1916, Arrow was mfging engs for at least 5 yrs prior to that and they made 7 different models of engines your "Junior" is just one !
Trying to discover these engines is what got me to an archive site that had this ad.
When we find these engines many of our unknowns will get a name ?
For right now you have the only known Arrow pre copper top era that I know of-- COOL !

1911 This article I found several yrs ago is what has me searching for them !

11art

Any information on early Arrow would be appreciated !

The photos I have of the engine are a little
blurred if you have some better ones I would appreciate them- its a one of a kind so far with
a name now, over 100 yrs old, it runs, it deserves a photo of distinction !

Bruce, I searched so many "Arrows" trying to link an individual by that name to this Co.I had to install a quiver on my computer ! several prominent names in the autombile industry in Detroit around this 1900-1910 era, but I still can't find where the name Arrow in this mfgrs name came from ?
In Buffalo you had Buffalo Arrow engs mfgrd by Buffalo Auto Truck and Motor Company- where does the Arrow come from ? Also Pierce- Arrow owned and mfgrd by George N. Pierce Company, his first car 1904 was called ARROW ??? Both these Buffalo Co's made marine engines -- I still haven't sorted it out ??

You can definitely see the lack of "vibration of any kind"! ;-)

There is another one of these carbs out there somewhere. I had 2 of them at one time. I can only find one now.
Detective Durgee another name for you to dig up info on.
Loomis Autocar Co.
Westfield Mass

The link and what apears to be a throttle plate is actually a variable venturi. The piece under the link that looks like a screw is actually the fuel jet. As you open or close the throttle the venturi gets bigger or smaller. The throttle control lever actually operates the venturi and the link rod goes to the throttle plate,

Quick search on the web found this from Early American Automobiles 1901 models

1901 Loomis Runabout

Saw this:

Loomis (1896-1904)

Gilbert J. Loomis, Westfield, MA 1896-1897
Loomis Automobile Co. Westfield, MA 1901-1903
Loomis Auto Car Co. Westfield, MA 1903-1904

As little as one year!

Given the long shaft, could this motor perhaps be from one of those early light cars like the one in Ernie's photo?

Here is another engine with a Loomis carburetor. I have the engine listed as maker unknown but we now believe it is an "Eclipse" engine.

Bill G in Louisiana has this engine that has
lever timer and water/pump like your unknown

BGL

I'll look for a later model, headless with conventional crankcase.
These engs made 1901 to 1911 when Taken into Traverse City Iron Works, Traverse City, Michigan.
Traverse City did continue to mfgr the engines.

The carb isn't from the engine. I just thought it looked good on it and I was too lazy to take all the carb pics and copy them the carb and mixer page.
Not sure why the long shaft but it is in the add too. Maybe so it could be easily modified to go in other things...
