Cool old marine engine no one likes to see the salt damage to the cylinders ! The "Vapor Rectifier" tag is rare, the first one i saw was in Mystic Museum Collection !

My data on these engines comes from the H.H. Brautigam Patent Feb 3 1914 assigned to the Bridgeport Motor Company, to me it is very similar to several earlier mfgrs, E.W. Roberts almost a decade prior to this one and is a device to eliminate a cylinder backfiring into the crankcase. Roberts used a screen but several I have seen have the plates which cool the backfire in the port !
Your engine with the Patent pending tag would date 1912-1913.

Hi Richard,
Is it the tag that's rare? Or is it the engine it self that's rare?Seriously thinking of bidding for it, either to restore or just to keep it from getting scrapped. Not sure of how many there are down under, so I will be looking for a lot of info from over there
