| Can't get spark on my M60 |

For some reason I can't get spark. Have a new distributer, coil, wires and plugs. Every thing seems to be wired correctly. Could it be the alternator regulater? |

I doubt the regulator would be your problem. Get a 12 volt test light. Ignition on, points open, both coil terminals should light the light. No light, no + from the ignition, 1 side lit, coil open or short on distributor side, disconnect distributor to verify. Bump engine until points close, should have light on one side, dist side should be out, if still have light on both sides, lead wire is open or points aren't closing, use test light to diagnose. If all OK so far, crank engine with test light on distributor side of coil, light should blink,if no spark from coil, coil is probably bad. If getting spark from coil and not to plugs, look for open coil wire or shorted rotor or distributor cap. |

Thought of something else, if you have an electric tach disconnect it, should be connected to the - coil wire with the distributor. If shorted it will kill the ignition. |
