I have a Gray Marine SS91 (X1097) 25hp four cylinder that has not been run in a few years. It is in a 1964 Chris Craft Capri 30 sailboat. What recommendations do you have for prepping before trying to start her up. May have been left with some fuel in the tank. What effect does the ethanol in gas today have? Any suggestions/recommendations are appreciated. |

I take all the belts remove the plugs and verify the Engine is free to turn by hand. Ethanol is not a friend of old systems. It is a hoter fluid. It tends to clean old deposits not to mention it plays havoc on older rubber parts. I normally start an old engine on a portable tank with fresh fuel. Once it is dialed in I replace the fuel lines install a fuel water seperator (works as a filter also) and wash the tank. |

Someone mentioned putting Marvel Mystery oil into each cylinder a couple days before I try starting. Will follow your recommendation on the balance. Thanks for your suggestions. |
