Hello, I have an old CN Cady engine that I need some information on. It is a 2M model number and engine #2811. I was just wondering if anyone could give me an approximate value of this. I am going to sell it and I really have no idea what this is worth. It is complete. It does look like there is something that is broke off of the flywheel. I noticed on some of your pictures that there is a handle there to start the engine with. Could that be what was there? I would appreciate any feedback you are willing to give. Thank-you, Teresa Haven |

Your engine has a flywheel magneto, most used a battery and coil for spark. The broken piece is the handle to control timing. Magneto's were an expensive option when sold but often they are not as desirable to a collector because they don't work and are expensive or impossible to repair. With a magneto you usually had to rope start the engine, with battery and coil you could give the flywheel a turn and off it would go. The engine seems to be complete and the small engines are desirable, you will probably get some offers. |
