Just worked out a deal to purchase this engine but I am looking for any information as too rarity and dating. From what I have found it would appear the to date from sometime before 1910 based on Canadian Fairbanks Co Becoming Canadian Fairbanks Morse Co. around then.   |

Thanks Thats more information then I had. I just was real happy to get that engine to go with my Fairbanks Morse Stationary engines. Well that and I have a soft spot for the marine engines. This one is going in my ceader strip canoe. |

Is the flywheel rim painted red or just rusty? Did you ID the colour of the engine based on a covered aarea of paint? It's obviously faded a lot where it is exposed. It would be interesting to get an idea of what colour they used originally. Good for you for getting her going. |

Flywheel rim is indeed painted red with no trace of any other colour underneath. The Green on the body of the engine also is the original paint. The colour is not as faded as it looks. In protected areas like inside the gear guards the paint is the same tourquoiseish green just a shade or two darker. I do not have it running yet but its really only waiting for a new set of rings. The cover for the timer is also missing but I am making one out of lexan (which will allow one to see the timer working). The only other pice that needs to be manufactured is the crankcase inspection cover. I have started on the model for this and probably this spring that will be sent off to the foundary to be cast in aluminum. |

If anyone knows a good source of supply for a wet exhaust muffler for use on this engine it would be appreciated. |

The old engine guys used a Copenhagen tin lid in a pinch. They are the same size. |
