Hello,I have been looking for a website that has photos of hugh deisel engines such as used in ships.Also of dual fuel engines.I want photos of engines that are around 20,000 horsepower and higher from the 1950's and 60's.Can anyone help here? |

David, I assume that you mean huge not hugh. If you are looking for photos of large diesels from current engine manufacturers you could look at the diesel engine manufacturer category at our other site, MarineEngine.com. Some of the German and Chinese manufacturers there make large diesels for ships. You could also try some of the museum website on our links page here. Mystic Seaport has a large archive of photos, some of which can be searched on their online database. Hope that helps. Regards, Andrew |

David; hope you will share photos you may locate of such enormous engines. I recall working on the test cell construction at ALCO Deisel Engines in Auburn NY 30 yrs ago. The ventilation dampers we installed had to be able to spring open to outside the building on power failure to avoid imploding the block test cell walls due to intake vacuum.As I recall;these were at least 24" bore in line multi-cylinder engines destined for locomotive or genset duty. |
