* Bob Legnon sent these photos this morning of his Single Cylinder C.T. Wright model L Special marine engine. I believe this is the only one presently known to exist ? its a 3 port design with a slotted piston skirt. it is also in running condition ! This is an early C.T.Wright production engine with roots in their outboard motors (vertically split crankcase).Wright also marketed The Weco inboard engines and in 1907 Bought Gile engine company moved its machinery to their Greenville, Michigan plant and sold these engines in their boats for many years. A very cool piece of Old Marine Engine Hiostory. ** |

* Ernie did your engine have the vertcally split crankcase ? The 2 1/2 hp model L seems to be the only model with it. The 3 1/2 hp had a conventional horizontal split case even with crankshaft ? I have info that a prominent naval architect Charles Desmond of Rutherford, New Jersey designed a marine engine and sold rights to C.T Wright Co. but i can't tie his eng to any one specific engine or model as yet ? * |
