JJ Parker Junior 2-5/16" bore as I recall...Has an interesting bronze chinstrap thingy to support the mixer. The mixer on this is a 3/4" - it now has a 1/2"..

Great idea for a thread, Bill. I really like that Less-More. It's almost like a tiny St.Lawrence.

The second engine that you posted is a Hooper from Orillia, ON. Here is another photo of her with her less modest twin sister. The bore and stroke in these is 2"x2" - maybe it would push a canoe...?

Richard - the Hooper and the first unknown that Bill posted have the vertical split base. Do you have them on your list?

How big is too big for a 'canoe' motor? How small does it have to be to become impractical and just a toy or model?

The Hooper name and photos are in my regular files.

Bill's Engine is in the Vertical Split case
Unknown file along with several others.

Might be a good idea to periodically post all the unknowns ??

Here's a shot of a homemade 1/20 horsepower canoe engine. Brand name I think was "Spruce". Maker is holding it in his hands.

Hello Everyone, here are some of my "little canoe motors":

I got this little engine from a fellow whose grandfather may have brought it from Europe. It was used in a very small boat and over the passage of time several things have gone missing: the water jacket, the carb (1/4" pipe), the ignition and the water pump. It has a 1 1/2" bore and a 1 1/2" stroke (the same as the Clark Troller) and a 4 1/2" flywheel. Can anyone help me identify or replace parts for this little engine?

I previously posted this one under Unknown Engines (on 04-27-08) in the hopes someone could help me identify it - no luck yet. It came out of a small dory in Nova Scotia and used tank cooling. I am still expecting the flywheel to arrive one day and hope to have more information on it before the gut arrives.

This Caille was used in a 12' aluminum boat and I am intending to put it together as a liberty drive outboard.

This little engine has a 10" flywheel and the previous owner had identified it as a Caille - but it does not have the embossed tank or any other identifing marks.

I have another little engine that could work in a canoe that I previously posted under Unkown Engines on 05-31-09 at 10:45pm, I would re-post it here but the picture seem to have disappeared in the computer and the engine is now all apart. (perhaps moderator Andrew could move the original post for me?) I am still hoping for information from someone on it.

Phil
