I have 2 Palmer M-392 circa 1968. These engines have what seems to be a PCV valve on top of the rocker arm cover. It is about 2 in diameter with a rubber diaphragm and spring inside. It connects directly to the intake manifold with a vaccuum line. Does any one know of a source for this prt new or used? The rubber diaphram is cracked and dried out . Does any one know the part number for this part? Any help is appreciated . |

is it threaded or mounted in a rubber grommet? IH engines normally have a flame arrestor mounted in one valve cover that goes to the air filter housing, the pcv normally comes out of the back of the valley pan mounted in a rubber grommet. hth mac |

Brian, thanks for your response. The valve is about 2 inches in diameter adn mounted in a rubber grommet on one end of the valve cover. It is attached to a rubber vaccuum line which is connected to the intake manifold itself. The valve has a rubber diaphram and spring connected to a small piston in a bore which is controlled by engine vaccuum to send blow-by back to the intake manifild. It looks like a primitive PCV valve. There is nothing connected to the flame arrestor or carb. I will take a picture of this valve and post it so you can see what it looks like. |

I replaced those with PCV valves on my 392 palmers I got the grommets and the PCV and made them work. I actually have 2 pcv on each engine. I cant recall if there were 2 of those weird valves per engine or not. |
