Hello,
I have 2 marine crusader D170 engins in our boat.
They are Detoit Diesel D478 with a modifyd cooling system done by Marine Crusader.
The previous owner has removed the thermostats from both engines.
I found in the manuels that these where "controled by-pass thermostats).
Ho can help us o find the correct type or a supplier. Marine crusader can't help us, the motors are to old for them !

Those were used on truck and power unit engines allso. They are allso useually a common part. You can try a GM truck dealer or an engine dealer like cummins and bricker(don't count on the spelling being correct.) |

I have seen 2 differant designs the more common one could be ordered by size and temp from many parts places. |

It's not the same thermostat as the one used on the truck or generator version.
Marine crusader has changed the cooling to work with a heat exchanger and a bypass thermostat so the motor can warmup more quickly.
If i can't get the correct thermostat, i shal order a few types and try if they fit.

problem solved, it's a bypass thermostat and i found 2 originals and 2 from gates
The BB-motor is now running stable at 80gr.C and the SB-motor at 65gr.C witch is a bit on the low side.
but the left cilinder gasket is not 100%
